Conservation

The Charles Paddock Zoo is accredited by the Aquariums and Zoos Association (AZA) and conservation is a priority for us. Whether saving species on the brink of extinction or ensuring species never reach such a precarious state, visitors can trust that AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums, such as the Charles Paddock Zoo, are working hard to protect wildlife and wild habitat for future generations to enjoy.

  • Giant Anteater Conservation
  • White Cheeked Turaco Conservation
  • Black Handed Spider Monkey Conservation
  • Red Flanked Duiker Conservation
  • Radiated Tortoise Conservation
  • Amercian Alligator Conservation

Many of the zoo’s residents are part of AZA’s Animal Programs which create or support the development of numerous tools, partnerships, and specialized conservation initiatives to advance animal conservation initiatives and strategies. Animal populations are managed by such programs to guarantee genetic diversity, therefor, maintaining sustainable and healthy populations.

AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums are also helping to save species, as well as coordinate, participate in, and provide financial support to projects that directly impact wildlife and wild places. Responsible resource conservation can lessen the threats to wildlife posed by habitat loss and degradation and AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums are taking a leading role in conserving the natural resources utilized in their business operations.

We can't do it alone
